Arrival and Conference Information
Arrival
All information you need on travel from the airport can be found at

This lists details of shuttle buses, taxis and public transport.
Talks and Timetable
The timetable for the conference is now available here (PDF).
Please check when you are listed as a session chair as well as your own talk time.
Each room will have an overhead projector, white board and a computer running Windows XP with both Powerpoint and Acrobat (for pdf files). If you wish to use the computer, please bring your talk on either a CD or USB drive so that it can be downloaded in advance of your talk. Given the propensity of Powerpoint and sometimes Acrobat to do strange things with fonts, we recommend some form of backup. Anyone wishing to use their own computer is on their own (but I suggest you set the screen to resolution 1280x1040 at most) !
Registration
Registration for full-conference delegates will be held from 3.30 pm on Sunday, January 28 in the Hotel Atrium – go straight through the main entrance and veer left past the bar/coffee shop to the base of the stairs on the western wall. It will be open again on Monday morning for Statistics Day registration, but at some point mid-morning will move upstairs into the Abrolhos room for the remainder of the conference. The conference BBQ for full-conference delegates will begin by the Resort Pool at 6.30 pm.
Statistics Day (for all delegates)
Monday, Jan. 29 is the designated Statistics Day for the conference. Registration will be open from 7.45 in the Atrium. Welcoming coffee and tea will be provided at this time. The conference opening will be at 8.30 and the first talk at 8.45. Lunch will be provided in the Atrium buffet, and there will be a drinks session by the Resort Pool at 5.45 for one hour to enhance mixing between statisticians and applied mathematicians. Each delegate will receive a voucher for one drink. See below for information on parking.
South African MISG Problem
During the conference, for those who need a “fix”, one of the problems at the concurrent MISG in South Africa will be discussed/worked on. Look out for details on the notice boards, at the morning notices or ask Neville Fowkes or Grant Keady.
Internet access
The Esplanade Hotel has broadband access in the Business Centre for guests – contact reception. Others will have to trawl the streets for an internet cafe. There are several in the area and some of the other accommodation places also have internet access. Ask the organizers – they'll be the ones with coloured dots on their name tags.
Parking
Parking is available in the multi-storey car park adjacent to the Esplanade Hotel in Collie St. Parking discount tickets can be obtained for delegates allowing them to park for the full day at a flat rate of $6 (subject to change). These need to be pre-arranged with the conference organizers 72 hours prior to the event. There is also some open air, full day parking opposite the hotel.
Valet Parking is available at $12.50 per vehicle per day to hotel guests. Non-resident delegates would need to pay $22.50 and give 24 hours notice with the concierge!
Child Minding
The Esplanade Hotel has a baby-sitting service for troublesome delegates, I mean for children. Ask at Hotel reception.
Excursion and Tours
There is no planned excursion for this conference. However, we recommend the Fremantle Prison Tours as below and the Maritime Museum. Your pack will contain several historic walking tours that you can try. Some other links for information are given below.
Doing Time Tour ($16.00 per adult, $12.50 with a concession card)
Step inside and join our experienced guides as you explore Fremantle Prison from its convict origins in the 1850s until its closure as a maximum-security gaol in 1991. Our Doing Time Tour is a 1.25 hour tour of the Prison grounds including the main cell block, chapel, solitary confinement and gallows. The tour runs 7 days a week and leaves every half an hour between 10am and 5pm.
Tunnels Tours ($55 per adult and $45 with a concession card)
The Tunnels Tour is an extreme heritage tour! The tour is 2.5 hours in duration and takes you 20 metres under the ground to explore old water reservoir tunnels under Fremantle Prison. Once you have descended down the 20 metre ladder, you explore dry areas of the tunnels on foot before hopping into small boats (called "punts") and paddling through the flooded areas within the tunnels!
The Tunnels Tours can take up to a maximum of 12 people and therefore bookings are recommended for this tour. Currently there are tours available 7 days a week at 9am, 9:45am, 10:40am, 12:20pm, 1:55pm, 2:40pm and 3:25pm.
